How to make an authentic Sushi Dinner to Impress
by Sarah Kyriazis of www.mymetromama.com

Although you might think it is difficult to make a sushi dinner, it is very simple as long as you have the right ingredients. I recently made a sushi dinner for 7 in my home. My friends were so impressed and keep commenting on how it tasted just like any sushi restaurant around. After putting my two little ones to bed. I created this dinner in 1 1/2 hours. I have included the places to shop for the right ingredients.

Essential Ingredients
Baycliff Sushi Chef Brand - at any grocery store
Sushi vinegar
Soy sauce
Rice vinegar
Pickled ginger
Wasabi
Short grain white rice
Rice paddle
Bamboo roller (Ed Hyder's Mediterranean Market, Pleasant Street, Worcester)
Nori seaweed sheets (Ed Hyder's Mediterranean Market)
Yeo's Chili Sauce, Sweet (Ed Hyder's Mediterranean Market)

Small cookie cutters (to match your theme)
Place Settings and chopsticks for all (My settings are a combination of a setting I bought from Bed, Bath & Beyond has - a place setting for two for $19.99 and square plates are from Target (4 for $29.99)
Serving Dishes (Target)

Sushi Grade Tuna (West Boylston Seafood)
Sushi Grade Salmon (Colony Farms in Webster Square)
Plastic Wrap

Rice
Short grain white rice, follow directions for the rice on the box

California Rolls
Crab Leg Meat (can also use crab meat sticks)
Avocado (cut in strips)
Cucumbers (cut in strips)
Wasabi (optional)
Rice

Layer Seaweed, Rice, Avocado, Cucumbers and Crab, Roll using a bamboo roller, Place plastic wrap over the entire roll to hold together, cut in 1-- 1.5" rolls, unwrap and place on plate.

Shrimp & Zuccini Tempura
Tempura Mix (Ed Hyders Med. Market)
Oil for frying
1/2 -1 lb of jumbo shrimp
1 Zucchini cut in strips
Devain shrimp and place in batter, place in oil and fry until light brown
Do the same for the Zucchini

Firecracker Rolls
Mayonnaise & Chili Sauce (mix)
Sushi Grade Tuna
Seaweed
Rice
Wasabi
Avocado
Cucumbers
Assemble as you did the California Rolls

Sweet Omelet
6 eggs
Rice Vinegar
Morin
6 tbsp sugar

Scramble eggs and add touch of morin and rice vinegar and 3 tbsp of sugar. Cook like an omlette. Roll and cut, place on serving dish, great with rice.

Use cookie cutters to shape rice, lay cut tuna or salmon over rice. Eat with ginger & wasabi.
Assemble all of the ingredients on your serving dishes. Use wasabi and ginger as garnishes.

The best thing is to experiment with all of these ingredients. There is also a great kit at Barnes & Noble Bookstore Called "Sushi Deluxe" that comes with chopsticks, a book, a bamboo roller and a rice mold.

Enjoy!!!!
